LAHORE: Pakistan leg-spinner Usman Qadir is eager to make a comeback in the national side.

While speaking to media in Lahore on Thursday, Qadir said that he is not interested in giving pointless statements and is focused on improving his performance on the field.

“I want to make a comeback in the Pakistan team but for that I need to improve my performance. There is no point in giving statements without performance,” said Qadir.

“After being dropped from the national team, I was hopeful about being called up for the spinners’ camp but that was not the case. However, this doesn’t affect my morale since I always try to keep a positive mindset.

“I can only make a comeback in the side if I do well in domestic cricket and leagues.

“I’m facing no fitness issues at the moment but don’t know why I wasn’t called up for the camp. I also don’t know the reason why I was dropped from the side.”

He also lauded Usama Mir and Shadab Khan while also expressing his desire to do well as an all-rounder.

“Usama Mir and Shadab Khan have done well for the national side and I’m happy for them,” he said. “I also want to make a name for myself as an all-rounder.”

Qadir has played 23 T20Is and one ODI over the course of his cricket career for Pakistan, while claiming 30 international wickets.

The Lahore-born made his last international appearance for Pakistan in a T20I match against England in Karachi in September last year.
